Richard Ofori Focused on Club Form Amid Hopes for Black Stars Recall

Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori has reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining strong performances at club level as he eyes a potential return to the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In an interview with iDiski Times, the AmaZulu shot-stopper acknowledged that while representing Ghana on the world stage remains a key ambition, his immediate focus is on delivering consistent performances for his club.

“I’m working hard and focusing on my team at the moment. That’s what you need to do if you want to be there [at the World Cup],” Ofori said.

“Recently, no, I haven’t spoken to the coach. But in the past, he used to call and check up on his players. He’s a good man. He hasn’t abandoned anyone; he just focuses more on those who are actively playing, especially since the qualifiers were so intense,” Ofori explained.

At 31, Ofori remains determined to help AmaZulu climb the South African Premier Division standings — a goal he believes will enhance his prospects for a national team call-up.
