Dormaa West Chairman: Bawumia’s Conduct Reflects Confidence to Win NPP Flagbearer Race
The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Dormaa West Constituency, Mr. Kwame Owusu, has expressed strong confidence that the conduct and leadership style of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia position him favourably to win the NPP flagbearer race ahead of the 2028 general elections.
During Dr. Bawumia’s recent visit to the Bono Region, Mr. Owusu praised the former Vice President for his calm disposition and refusal to engage in divisive politics. He noted that Bawumia’s continuous emphasis on party unity and discipline has strengthened the NPP’s internal cohesion and inspired grassroots supporters.
According to Mr. Owusu, before Dr. Bawumia’s emergence as a leading figure in the party, the NPP’s morale had weakened considerably. However, he believes Bawumia’s message of unity, coupled with his humility and focus on results, has revitalized the party base. He also commended the national executives for organizing an early congress, which he said provides enough time for the party’s flagbearer to engage delegates and build strong nationwide support.
Dr. Bawumia, on his part, has continued to tour various constituencies, reminding supporters that Ghanaians vote for vision, not wealth. He emphasized that leadership should be grounded in innovative ideas that deliver tangible results in job creation, economic transformation, and national development.
The Bawumia campaign has also promoted issue-based engagement, encouraging respectful political dialogue and discouraging personal attacks among party members. This approach, according to Mr. Owusu, reflects a disciplined and forward-looking leadership style that resonates deeply with both party delegates and ordinary Ghanaians.
Observers believe that Bawumia’s composure, message of unity, and focus on practical solutions are helping him consolidate support within the NPP. His ability to connect with grassroots members while maintaining a national outlook has strengthened perceptions that he is well-positioned to lead the party into the next election cycle.
In the view of the Dormaa West Chairman, Dr. Bawumia’s conduct not only demonstrates his readiness for leadership but also his potential to unify the party and secure a decisive victory in the flagbearer race.
