Shatta Wale Draws Massive Crowd at Black Star Square for Shatta Fest 2025 Birthday Concert

Tens of thousands of fans thronged Accra’s Black Star Square on Saturday, 18th October 2025, for Shatta Fest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls — a spectacular free birthday concert hosted by Ghanaian music icon Shatta Wale.

Although the show was officially scheduled to kick off at 4:00 PM, devoted fans began arriving as early as midday. By sundown, the square and surrounding streets were overflowing with supporters — many dressed in white in honour of the Dancehall King’s birthday, which fell on 17th October.

The event, which served as a heartfelt thank-you to fans, was Shatta Wale’s way of celebrating their unwavering loyalty throughout his career. And he delivered in grand style.

An impressive lineup of Ghana’s top performers graced the stage, including Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, DopeNation, and many more. Each act delivered high-energy performances that kept the crowd on their feet well into the next morning.

One of the night’s most emotional moments came when Shatta Wale honoured veteran rapper Tinny with a citation, paying tribute to his role in supporting his early music journey. In another memorable highlight, he called Nigerian influencers Peller and Big Jiggy on stage to resolve their differences — leading to a public handshake and reconciliation.

The concert officially ended at 7:05 AM on Sunday, capping off a night of unforgettable music and unity.

Shatta Fest 2025 was powered by MoMo Fest (Mobile Money Ghana Limited), with key support from Shaxi and Charterhouse.

Early reviews from fans, critics, and entertainment industry insiders have praised the event’s scale, organization, and Shatta Wale’s unmatched ability to draw a crowd. Many hailed the concert as one of the most iconic moments in Ghana’s recent music history.

Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., Shatta Wale has long established himself as one of Ghana’s most influential reggae-dancehall artists. Known for hits like Dancehall King, My Level, and Taking Over, his international acclaim skyrocketed after his collaboration with Beyoncé on Already, featured on The Lion King: The Gift album.

Over the years, Shatta Wale has received numerous awards and accolades, and built one of the most loyal fan bases in African music.

In a bold move toward international recognition, he recently submitted his latest single, Street Crown, for Grammy consideration in the upcoming 2026 awards — expressing strong optimism for a nomination.
